35 For 5

Jonathan Papelbon collected his 35th save of the season, helping the Red Sox to a 6-4 win over the Orioles. He didn’t make it easy as the Orioles had men on 2nd and 3rd with one out, but Jonathan struck out the last two batters to strand the runners. That save was a big milestone:

Papelbon is the only pitcher in major league history to record at least 35 saves in each of his first five seasons. In 38 career appearances against the Orioles, he has 30 saves and an 0.75 ERA.

Not a bad way to start a career. With 186 saves, he’s already tied for 50th on the all-time save list. If he can keep that streak going for ten years, he’ll likely wind up in the top ten.
