Replacement Level Just Got More Expensive

Players earning league minimum will do a bit better next season as the lowest salary rises from $400,000 to $414,000. I’ve always thought the best job in the world was vice-president of the United States. You get a house and a big pay check with a minor role in the senate as your only official job. Riding a big league bench is getting up there in the, “no work and pay,” category.

This is true however, it takes enough talent to make it through the minors to get there. Any idiot can be VP. . . and has been.

Most bench players with experience make more than the league minimum.

Most of the players making the league minimum are wage slaves in their pre-arb years and includes some stars who are regulars and not bench players. Clay Buchholz and Daniel Bard made league minimum last year.
