Cy Morong developed a crude way of measuring the “All-Around” best players. The surprise on the list to me is Bill White at 24. Bill is there due to his defense, as he won seven gold gloves, but he could hit for a bit of power and run a little, finishing his career with over 100 stolen bases. I don’t think Cy means this measure to be a be-all/end-all, but as a quick and dirty guide it’s not bad.
