Pirates Pitchers

R.J. Anderson notes the slight improvements to the Pittsburgh starting staff, a rotation that lost 84 games in 2010. I’m not sure the improvements will mean fewer losses for the Pirates, however. The Reds and Cardinals are still very good teams, and the Brewers significantly upgraded their pitching staff. The Cubs brought in another solid starter in Garza. In other words, while Pittsburgh made small improvements, they really haven’t done anything to catch up to the rest of the division. The bullpen might take some of those losses instead of the starters, but the losses likely will come anyway.
