Phil Coke comes in to face Curtis Granderson to start the bottom of the seventh, Coke relieving Justin Verlander. Phil and Curtis were traded for each other, and Curtis wins the trade today, homering off Phil to put the Yankees on top 4-3. With Austin Jackson striking out three times and Curtis making two nice plays in the field, the Yankees lead on the trade today.
Granderson definitely outperformed Coke and Jackson today. However, they also gave up Ian Kennedy as part of that 3 team deal (and the Tigers also received Max Scherzer).
Probably a bad trade overall for the Yankees, but looked good today.
Granderson could have a monster year for the Yankees if he stays healthy.
I also see signs that Jeter, Teixeira and A-rod could have significant improvement over 2010, while Cano and Posada might slip a bit. Of course, this may be a delusion on my part.
Anyways, as a Red Sox fan, I will not write off the Yankees or Rays yet.
