The Orioles maintained their 1.00 team ERA as Jake Arrieta and the bullpen combined to beat the Tigers 5-1. It wasn’t an overwhelming performance as Jake walked two and struck out just three in six innings, but the Tigers went just 2 for 9 with runners in scoring position. Meanwhile, the timely hitting continued for the Orioles as Brian Roberts delivered a three-run homer.

Jeremy Guthrie is supposed to get a chance to continue this streak on Wednesday, but he is in the hospital with a high fever.

Update: Guthrie has pneumonia. My mother went through pneumonia a couple of times, and it’s very serious. I wish Jeremy a speedy recovery.

This might cheer him up.
