Shutout Tuesday

The Brewers, Orioles and Marlins all pitched shutouts in their game Tuesdays, each stomping the competition. Milwaukee downed the Phillies 9-0 as they solved Roy Halladay for six runs in 6 2/3 innings. Randy Wolf allowed just two hits in six innings, while the bullpen only allowed a single walk in finishing up the game.

The Orioles took advantage of a depleted Twins roster to beat them 11-0. Jake Arrieta took the win for his six innings of work, while hitting youngsters Adam Jones and Matt Wieters combined for four hits, five runs and four RBI.

Josh Johnson allowed just two hits in seven innings while striking out nine as the Pirates fell to the Fish 6-0. The Marlins ace comes out of the game with an even 1.00 ERA. The Marlins bullpen kept up the pressure, retiring all six men they faced, striking out three of them. Florida is now just 1/2 game out of first place in the NL East.

Looking at the scoreboard, the Giants are up 4-0 on Colorado in the bottom of the fifth, so we may get another one tonight.
