Pitching to Contact

Jered Weaver extended his streak of allowing one run or less in a start to five games as the Angels defeated the Mariners 5-1. As typical in this streak, he walked one and struck out six. His 6.8 K per nine during the streak is one K below his career average. Despite that, he’s not allowing many hits. Of the 113 balls in play against him, only 27 resulted in hits, none for home runs. That’s a BABIP of .239. Batters strike out less against Jered, but they still are not making good contract against him.
