The Mets collected seven extra-base hits out of the nine safeties they record Sunday night against the Giants, but only managed to score two runs. With the exception of the home run and the final double, those hits set up scoring opportunities, they did not finish them. New York went 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position as the Giants won 4-2. Giants are holding opponents to a .233 BA with runners in scoring position this year, not that different from their overall average allowed of .231.
