Irene on the Beach

A couple of days ago I posted this video of the beach at Niantic, CT:

Now, one of the residents posted video of the same beach during the storm.

You can see the jetty was covered with water, and the big rocks just off the beach can’t be seen. Looks pretty awesome, and I’m glad the water didn’t surge off the beach.

Probably see the same during a regular Nor’easter.

NWS waited like 6 hrs before downgrading it to a TS and CNN reporters deserve the academy award. One reporter on Long beach all dressed up in storm gear was making like he was getting knocked around by the wind, unknown to him a kid was riding his bike behind him and a 90 lb Asian fellow was out for a walk in shorts and a t-shirt having no problem with the wind, not to mention others.

I rarely watch US news programs anymore but made an exception for Irene, but I had so many laughs over a 3 hr period I may have to watch more. Do people really take this stuff seriously?. It’s so transparent it’s almost insulting. Reality is simply what is created in a news studio, true or not.
