Zack Greinke gave up one run in 7 2/3 innings as the Brewers hang on to defeat the Cubs 3-2. Zack pitched well all around, walking two and striking out seven, giving up just four hits. He’s now 6-2 since the all-star break with 2.35 ERA. He cut down on his homers, giving up just five in 61 1/3 innings since the break. He allowed 11 in 74 1/3 innings previously.
The Brewers win their 81st game, just two fewer than the Phillies. They’ve played many more games, however, as they sit five games back in the race for best record in the NL. The Brewers host the Phillies at home for four games Sept. 8 through 11.
