Ian Kennedy takes the NL lead in wins all for himself as the Diamondbacks beat the Padres 6-1. Kennedy lasted seven innings, showing impressive control as he walked none while striking out seven. In two starts against San Diego this season, Ian walked one and struck out 16.
The Diamondbacks gain a game on the Giants, who fall to the Astros 4-3 in 11 innings. Matt Cain picks up another no-decision as he allowed just two runs in eight innings, thanks to Bud Norris striking out ten Giants in his seven innings of work. The Astros scored in both the tenth and the eleventh innings, but the Giants were able to come back once to tie the game. Arizona, with a six-game winning streak, leads the division by four. They play the Giants six more times, including three games next weekend.
