Mets Staging a Comeback

Down 6-2 in the top of the ninth to the Cardinals, the Mets load the bases with one out. Justin Turner draws a walk to drive in a run, and the lead is down to 6-3. Jose Reyes comes to the plate as the Cardinals go to the bullpen to replace Jason Motte with Marc Rzepczynski.

Update: Reyes singles in a run and the Cardinals lead is down to 6-4. The bases are still loaded, this time for Ruben Tejada.

Update: Fernando Salas comes in to face Tejada.

Update: Tejada hits a ball deep to the leftfield corner. The Cardinals fielders were playing shallow, and the ball falls just out of the reach of Shane Robinson. Two runs score, and after an intentional walk, David Wright bats with the bases loaded and one out, the game tied at six.

Update: Wright strikes out. Two down.

Update: Willie Harris singles in two runs and the Mets lead 8-6. I heard a stat over the weekend that if games were only eight innings this season, the Cardinals would be in first place in the NL Central.

Nick Evans flies out to end the inning. The Cardinals need two runs in the bottom of the ninth if they are going to have a chance to pick up 1/2 game on the Braves.
