Another Reliever

Tom Verducci just said the Yankees brought in Phil Hughes because he was warmed up. He gives up a one-out single in the fourth, and Girardi takes him out of the game. It looks like Joe is simply going to empty the bullpen tonight, rather than give any pitcher a chance to go deep in the game. I don’t like this strategy, simply because the more pitchers you bring in, the more likely one is to have a bad night.

Update: Boone Logan comes in and gives up a single on the first pitch to Alex Avila.

Update: Logan gets a fly ball and a strikeout to end the inning. The Yankees pitchers are bending but not breaking since the two home runs. The Yankees haven’t been able to put together a long offensive rally against Fister, however.
