Nick Punto hits a two-out single in the bottom of the fifth, bringing Jaime Garcia to the plate. I’m actually surprised Tony La Russa is not pinch hitting for his starter here. I don’t think he’s wrong, it just seems in the playoffs Tony goes to his bullpen early.

Update: Rafael Furcal hits a grounder up the middle. Elvis Andrus dives to make the stop, which all by itself saves a run, but then makes a perfect shovel pass from his glove. The ball reaches second at the same time as Ian Kinsler, who grabs the ball and steps on the bag for the out. That two inning in a row in which the keystone combination made a stellar play to end the frame.
