Just saw Bryce Harper get a hit against the Mets. He slapped a ball to third base, then flew down the line to beat the throw. It was an Ichiro hit, and as I started to write this, the Mets broadcasters said the same thing.
Harper may end up being a Mickey Mantle type, who can beat out ground balls and smash balls over fences.
How many years ’til the Yankees can sign him? LOL.
Kirk Gibson drew the same comparisons to Mantle. Gibson came very close to washing out, then got his head straight and became a very good player with some spactular moments. As a whole, though, he didn’t quite live up to the hype.
