There may be contract extensions for Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner over the weekend. I was somewhat hoping Matt would become a free agent, as I’d like to see how high the market prices him. He’d be hitting the market in his prime (seasonal age 28), and he’s consistently posted bWARs around four. Five years, $100 million would be the starting point, I assume, and I would not be surprised to see him get seven years, $170 million. We’ll see if the Giants extension falls between those numbers.
