Jeff Moorad’s bid to become the majority partner of the Padres is on hold:

San Diego Padres CEO Jeff Moorad has withdrawn his application to baseball to finalize his purchase of the club.

The Padres announced Friday the move was to “expedite approval of the team’s television broadcasting agreement.”

I’m not sure why that matters, except the broadcaster may want to know there is stable ownership. On the other hand, it could be the television contract will make it easier for Moorad to get the approval of MLB.
