Marlins Return

Giancarlo Stanton and Logan Morrison are both back in the Miami lineup:

After weeks of nursing knee injuries, Stanton and Morrison put their legs to the test in a Grapefruit League game.

Morrison drove in a run with a sharp single to right, and Stanton went 0 for 2 with a walk in a 3-2 loss to the Washington Nationals. Both are expected to be in the Opening Night lineup on Wednesday.

I think this is another example of how spring training is too long. If these two can get into games on Friday and be ready to play for all the marbles on Wednesday, why do players need six weeks?

Probably, because it used to be that players had off season jobs & needed the time to get in shape. Nowadays, it’s year round training, but a lot of the ST facilities have been funded by local governments and I’ll bet the deals were “We’ll pay for it, but we want X number of games.” Yet another argument against tax payer funded sports facilities.
