Magglio Ordonez needs hernia surgery and will likely miss 2 to 3 months of the season.
It’s not clear how much he’ll be missed. The Tigers are tied with Boston in runs scored per game at 5.7, 2nd in the AL. Ordonez made almost no contribution to that. If the Tigers can stay at that level of offense, Ordonez should give them a big boost when he returns.
I hope they can get both Nook and Marcus into the lineup, Thames is far too good for AAA, he just can’t seem to get traction at the major league level.
I feel mean for saying it, but that contract looks awfully foolish now… he may not even really test the knee this year now, so even that protection is diminished…
I wish I knew the wording of the contract. If the contract IS as short sighted as it seemed, it’s incredibly stupid because this injury (or any other injury Magglio sustains) could be an indirect result of the knee, perhaps by compensating for it or something else. And despite that, the tigers have no recourse.
Not to gloat, but I said all along on this site that this was a HORRIBLE contract. It was. Poor Tiger fans.
re: Magglio Ordonez and Nomar Garciaparra
Ok, let’s see. Nomar has a tendon rupture from his groin, and now Magglio needs hernia repair. What are these guys doing off the field, working for U-Haul????
I mean, lifting weights is important for conditioning, but guys, get a lifting belt, work with a trainer, and see your doctor every once in a while.
Note to Nomar: No rough stuff with your new wife Mia Hamm till the tendon recovers!!!
