Yankees Kick Some Ass

I wasn’t going to acknowledge this New York Post backpage from this morning, but given the Yankees overcoming a 9-0 Red Sox lead to win 15-9, it seems appropriate. Felix Doubront pitched great for six innings, but the Boston bullpen pitched terribly for two, giving up seven runs in both the seventh and eighth inning. Nick Swisher and Mark Teixeira each drove in six runs, while David Ortiz and Jarrod Saltalamacchia collected four hit each. In general, it wasn’t a good day for pitching. The Red Sox pen came in with a 6.13 ERA, and that got a lot worse this afternoon.

I really wonder if Bobby Valentine is in trouble? All of the chicken and beer in the clubhouse seems like small potatoes after this start. Maybe Bobby should let the players drink again.

John Henry and Ben Cherington went into Bobby V’s office after the game, shut the door.

In the 8th inning after Pedroia struck out, going back to the dugout, Bobby V turned his back on him.

Making a pitching change in the 8th, he got booed, and tipped his cap in a mock gesture to the fans, made me think of BH Kim (thin skin).

2 IBB with no outs had even McCarver wondering and Yankee fans enjoying the moment.

Letting his LOOGY face a RHB’er with ROB in what was still a close game was something Bobby V said was a mistake a week ago, yet he did it again.

Since dumping on Youk, the team has lost 5 straight.

Bobby V won’t last the season. I won’t be surprised if Tito is in uniform for tomorrows game.

pft » Thanks for the update. This is what the Red Sox get for not letting baseball operations decide on a manager. The Red Sox had one of the great front offices in baseball. My guess is they are still very good, but the higher ups wanted Valentine. Maybe next time they’ll listen to Cherington.

Dang, froze my posterior off at the Mud Hens, (loss) and missed the perfecto and the comeback.

I’ve seen this blowing 9-0 lead to Yanks before. Opening Day 1950, Sox 25 game winner, Mel Parnell had Yanks 9-0 & Yanks won game 10-9 on Tom Henrich HR.
I would love to hear Sox pitching coach on Sox bullpen putting up 7/7 run innings today.
