It was a good approach for Texas, as the first game took a bit of a toll on the Detroit pen, but the relievers allowed one run in three innings, and that was enough for the win.

You are correct about the many, many foul balls the Rangers hit. However, the first game really didn’t take much out of the Tiger bullpen, despite Porcello’s early exit. Daniel Schlereth pitched two innings but was sent down to Toledo after the game, and long man Duane Below pitched the other six innings himself.
