Jeff Samardzija continues to show fine control as a starter as he walks two and strikes out seven Reds in 7 2/3 innings. Cincinnati could manage just three hits against Jeff as the Cubs win 3-1. Jeff’s ERA is down to 3.41, and the Cubs starters in general are putting up good walk and strikeout numbers. It seems to me their ERA should be a bit lower, and if tonight’s game is any indication look for a gradual improvement.
