The one through four hitters in the Yankees lineup each collected two hits today, combining for two walks, a double, two home runs, six runs and eight RBI as the Yankees spank the Royals 10-4. Derek Jeter‘s 2 for 3 raised his BA to .397.
The most important line of the day belonged to Phil Hughes, however, who walked one and struck out seven in 6 2/3 innings. He did allow three runs as his ERA only dropped to 6.67, but that’s two start in a row where he showed good control and power, two walks and 13 K in his last 12 1/3 innings.
