Albert Pujols made an out in his first plate appearance Wednesday night. That dropped his batting average to .189. He’s definitely going to need a good pair of glasses to see the Mendoza line from there. There’s no score in the Angels/Twins game in the top of the second.
This is beginning to remind me of Reggie Jackson in early 80’s. In ’81. He was battin’ .199 when the strike hit in early June. He started May ’82, under .200 as well. In ’83, he was under .200 when June started. In fact, he finished ’83 with an OBP under .300. Of course he was a little older at the time than Pujols is now, but it still reminds me of it.
