J.D. Martinez hit a grand slam Thursday afternoon as they Astros beat the Giants 6-3. It was the first slam in Martinez’s career, but he already is off to a great start with the bases loaded. He collected six hits in 13 at bats in the situation with two doubles, walking twice and driving in 17 runs. He’s on his way to becoming the next Pat Tabler, who was an okay hitter but posted a .489/.505/.693 slash line with the bases loaded in 109 PA.
Put that down as a check mark in the anything can happen in 100 PA list.
