Matt Swartz looks at why first basemen are paid more than other positions. I left a comment on the post suggesting that catchers (and to a certain extent middle infielders) are higher injury risks, so that if they project to the same WAR as a first baseman, the skill players are less likely to realize their potential due to injury.
