Great for Eight, Walk-off Late

Jarrod Parker and CC Sabathia battled for eight innings, the Yankees ace leaving with a 1-0 lead. Parker walked none and struck out seven, while CC shone with two walks and 11 K. The bullpens didn’t do as well, as Rafael Soriano blew a save when he gave up a home run to Brandon Moss, which sent the game to extra innings. Sean Doolittle came out for his second inning in the tenth, and Russell Martin ended the game with his 18th home run of the season.

There’s been a bit of talk lately about how Sabathia hasn’t pitched like an ace lately. It seemed more like some bad luck and bad defense. Tonight he looked very ace like.
