Massive Tie Scenario

It was a great day for the massive tie scenario in the National League Wild Card race. All three teams chasing St. Louis won, while the Cardinals lost.

The most wins that would produce a four-way tie for the NL Wild Card stands at 88, with the following getting the teams there:

  • Phillies 11-0
  • Dodgers 10-1
  • Brewers 10-2
  • Cardinals 8-3

I like that all the teams can finish the season with good records and still force a tie.

The AL race remains is on life support. Teams gained on the Athletics, but that meant the Yankees won. The Orioles also took home a victory.

The the most wins for a massive tie in the American League remains at 92.

  • Tigers 13-0
  • Rays 11-0
  • Angels 10-1
  • Athletics 7-5
  • Orioles 6-6
  • Yankees 5-7

We still could end up with an interesting situation. The Orioles and Yankees could tie for the AL East lead, while the other four teams tie for the second wild card slot. The Tigers make up their rainout tomorrow.

For today, these are the best outcomes to tighten the races:

  • St. Louis falls to the Chicago Cubs
  • Detroit beats Minnesota
  • Oakland defeats New York
  • Milwaukee wins against Washington
  • Philadelphia defeats Atlanta
  • Baltimore loses to Boston
  • Los Angeles defeats Cincinnati
  • Tampa Bay beats Toronto
  • LAnaheim beats the Chicago White Sox
