The weather report looks bad for game three of the series between the Giants and the Cardinals in St. Louis. They’ll try to play with Matt Cain facing Kyle Lohse in a battle of aces. Cain had a rough post-season so far, failing to last six innings in both his starts, and giving up three runs in each. He’s allowed three home runs, and that’s not like Matt at all. Throughout his career, he’s been very good at keeping the ball in the park for a fly-ball pitcher. The Cardinals knocked him around in the regular season, too.
Lohse pitched two good games so far, striking out 11 and walking two in 12 2/3 innings. He could be the first pitcher to face four different teams in the post season.
The Tigers just need to win one of the next four games to advance to the World Series. CC Sabathia will try to stop them on Wednesday as he faces Max Scherzer. CC pitched lights out against Baltimore, giving up just three runs in 17 2/3 innings, good vor a 1.53 ERA. He gave up 22 HR in the regular season, a single season high for him, but has not allowed a ball to leave the park this October.
Scherzer pitched well against Oakland, walking one and striking out eight. The A’s wore him out early, however, as he threw 91 pitches and left in the sixth. The Yankees should try to work his pitch count up the same way.
Enjoy!
