There are so many good match-ups Tuesday night it’s tough to choose a few. The battle of Japan is a good early game as Yu Darvish and the Rangers visit Hiroki Kuroda and the Yankees. Both pitchers own seven wins with ERAs around 2.80. The Rangers offense hasn’t supported Darvish lately, scoring just 13 runs in his last six starts. The Yankees have scored 2 runs or less in six of Kuroda’s last seven starts, and one run or less in five of those. Expect a 2-1 game decided by the bullpen. 🙂
The Mets travel to Chicago for an interleague game as Zack Wheeler makes his second MLB start against the White Sox own phenom, Chris Sale. Wheeler did not allow a run in his first six innings of work despite five walks. Opponents went 0 for 12 with three walks with runners on base. Sale is repeating his 2012 breakout season in everything but wins. His ERA drops to 2.13 at home.
Finally, the Braves take on the surprising Royals as Kris Medlen faces Ervin Santana. Medlen does have problems on the road, with seven of his nine home runs allowed coming away from Atlanta. Santana is part of a rotation posting a 2.85 ERA in June, while the Braves starters own the highest average game score for the month.
