Game of the Day

The Pirates go for their sixth win in a row as they send Jeanmar Gomez against the Mariners and Felix Hernandez. The Pirates offense led the way in the five games, scoring 35 runs. Of their 57 hits in those games, 31 went for extra bases, good for a .591 team slugging percentage.

Gomez, a right-handed pitcher, dominates lefties this year, holding them to a .194/.292/.323 slash line. His reverse platoon split holds up for his career as well. Hernandez comes off a horrendous performance in which he squandered a 7-0 lead, resulting in a Seattle loss. Overall, however, his three-true outcome rates are excellent and I expect he’ll contend for the Cy Young award.

Enjoy!
