The Indians and White Sox play a double header, with Trevor Bauer taking on Hector Santiago in game one. In three starts for the Indians earlier this season, Bauer posted a 2.76 ERA, but was sent down for walking 15 batters in 16 1/3 innings. He walked 5.0 per nine at AAA, but he’s going to get another shot as the extra starter. Santiago continues to impress as a starter, striking out 50 in 47 innings since moving to the rotation.
The Nationals visit New York with Ross Detwiler facing Matt Harvey. Ross is an effective back of the rotation pitcher, walking just 11 batters and allowing five home runs in 60 1/3 innings. His ERA in 2013 drops to 3.66 on the road. Harvey has been nearly unhittable in his last two starts. Opponents are 5 for 43 with one double, four walks, 19 strikeouts, and a .116/.191/.140 slash line. He last allowed a home run on May 22.
Finally, the Cardinals fly to Oakland as Shelby Miller meets Bartolo Colon. Miller is doing everything right in his rookie season, with 101 K, 20 walks, and eight home runs in 92 innings. If he can keep that up for a full season he’ll be on the short list of Cy Young candidates. Colon continues to amaze even after getting caught for PEDs. Unlike Melky Cabrera, Bartolo is playing even better than before his suspension.
Enjoy!
