Marcell Ozuna came up with men on first and second and one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Marlins. He popped up a ball into the dugout. Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal went over, reached in, but hitting the fence seemed to throw him off and he missed what looked like a catchable ball. Ozuna took the next pitch into an outfield for an RBI single and the first run of the game. That led to an intentional walk to load the bases, and once again Jeff Mathis makes Bud Black pay for the strategy. He doubled to left to clear the bases, and the Marlins lead 4-0.
Jose Fernandez picked up where he left off in June, walking one and striking out nine in his first six innings.
