Based on what I saw in Taiwan it wont matter. Looks very heavy and lost bat speed. Put up ok numbers but against A-AA level pitching.

how soon until he shoves an old traveling secretary? I don’t care for PED use, but that’s the least of his transgressions.

For whatever reason, he hasn’t been even a shadow of what he was for years now. PEDs or not, this may be the last act for him.

That “old” traveling secretary was a tough ex-cop in pretty good shape who was in his face over a reasonable request to get tickets for his family and friends above his quota (something he could do by collecting them from players who had no use for them on that game). Tito described it in his book. Not to say Manny was right to shove him but the story that came out was a bit misleading and conjured up pictures of him pushing a feeble and gentle old man for no good reason.
@pft – he hit .352/.422/.555 in 49 games. He was third in the league in batting, second in the league in home runs, third in RBIs and sixth in total bases. While you may denigrate the CPBL as A-AA level and feel that he should be putting up better numbers, I will point out that he hasn’t played much the last two seasons (5 games in MLB in 2011 and 17 games in AAA last season) and he’s adjusting to a league where he doesn’t know the ballparks or the pitchers, not to mention a country with unfamiliar customs, language and food. I think Manny’s numbers were quite good under the circumstances and I think the Rangers are making a shrewd move at picking him up.
I’m disappointed he’s not heading for Japan – it would have been interesting to see how he would have done there.
