Multiple newsmen report that the Cubs will trade Scott Hairston to Washington for a minor league pitcher. Hairston is a powerhouse against left-handed pitching. For his career he has slugged .500 against lefties, and this season he hit eight home runs in 78 at bats against lefties. While I don’t think the Nationals will platoon him with Denard Span (hitting lefties poorly), Scott will give give Davey Johnson an excellent option off the bench if a LOOGY comes in against Denard late.
