Danny Salazar took a big step forward in the Cleveland system his year. He added a higher K rate to his low walk rate, and that earned him his first Major League start Thursday afternoon against the Blue Jays. Salazar pitched six strong innings, walking one and striking out seven. Toronto hitters managed just two hits, scoring one run. It’s nice to see a pitcher’s minor league success translate directly to the majors.
Cleveland leads Toronto 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
