Derek Jeter won’t play this weekend:
Derek Jeter will miss the Yankees’ weekend series against Minnesota with a strained right quadriceps, and New York cannot rule out a return to the disabled list.
After missing the first 91 games of the season because of a broken ankle, Jeter was activated Thursday and went 1 for 4 with an RBI groundout as the designated hitter against Kansas City. He injured the leg in his third at-bat.
Jeter joins Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira as players who didn’t last long after returning from their original injuries.
