Mike Trout is not intimidated by Matt Harvey, hitting the first pitch down the rightfield line for a double.
Harvey follows up by hitting Robinson Cano on the side of the knee.
Update: Cano walks slowly to first base and stays in the game.
Update: Harvey gets ahead of Miguel Cabrera 0-2, then strikes him out swinging on a 2-2 pitch outside. Robinson Cano, however, leaves the field due to the hit by pitch. The Yankees may lose their final hitting star.
Update: Chris Davis pops out.
Update: Jose Bautista strikes out as Harvey pitches out of the jam. The NL comes to bat in the bottom of the first with their backward lineup.
Update: Max Scherzer retires the NL in order in the first, striking out one. No score at the end of one.
I understand R-L-R-L batting order constructions in the regular season, but in an All Star game why not stack the front part of the order with LHB’ers when a RH starter is going. I mean Papi batting after Bautista was dumb. And Davis has a bad hand as a result of the Derby, so why not hit him lower in the order.
