In the New York versus Boston marathon of Sunday night, the Yankees knocked out 13 hits, all singles, as they fell to Boston 8-7 in eleven innings. That’s the second time this season Yankees hitters collected at least 10 hits, all of them singles, and the second time this month. In the previous 11 seasons, the Yankees the combination of at least 10 hits, all of them singles happened twice, on 7/17/2007, a 3-2 win against the Blue Jays, and on 8/10/2002, an 8-0 loss to Oakland. The last time the Yankees had multiple games like this was 1992, which wasn’t exactly a great year for the offense.
