After a loss on June 21st, the Dodgers sat 9 1/2 games back in the NL West. They stayed there after a win on June 22nd, but as of their sweep of the Nationals over the weekend, Los Angeles is now tied in the loss column with Arizona, the Dodgers just 1/2 game out of first place. That’s an impressive comeback, making up nine games in a month. It actually should give hope to teams like the Yankees, the Nationals, the Phillies, the Angels, and maybe even Toronto. The season is eroding away, and there is not much time left. These teams are all somewhat better than they’ve played, so a big winning streak might turn around a disappointing season for them as well.
The Yankees are better than they’ve played? How?
Tom » With all these teams, the potential is there for them to be better. That’s what I meant to say.
True. I think I have a higher WAR than some of the guys who have played third for them. 🙂
Tom » Many of us do. 🙂
Funny how players getting healthy combined with shoring up the bullpen (not to mention the surprise debut of Puig) made that happen. It’s almost as if the “professionals” at ESPN and elsewhere who were writing the obituary of the 2013 Dodgers should have been able to see this coming or something.
