The Reds and Giants play an unusual double header, Cincinnati playing home team in the second game despite playing in San Francisco. It’s the make up of a game that was rained on at Great American Ballpark. Game one features Rookie Tony Cingrani against Eric Surkamp, who appeared briefly for the Giants in 2011 but is not a rookie. Cingrani pitched better as a starter this season, as he’s been less wild in that capacity. Surkamp missed all of 2012, but has been a high K/ low BB pitcher in the minors.
The Rays can move into first place in the AL East with a win over the Red Sox as Roberto Hernandez takes on Jon Lester. Top of the order hitters Desmond Jennings and and Jacoby Ellsbury have been hot in July.
Finally, Travis Wood faces Patrick Corbin as the Cubs play the Diamondbacks. Wood sports a .185/.247/.298 opposition slash line on the road. Corbin is undefeated at home, 7-0 with a 1.54 ERA.
Enjoy!
