Joe Posnanski remembers Drungo Larue Hazelwood, who died on Sunday. My thoughts go out to Hazewood’s family and friends.
I know of Drungo did to a Bill James blurb on the enormous number of Johnsons in the majors in the early 1980s. “And Drungo Larue Hazelwood languishes in the minors. What a waste.”
Indeed.
He was well written about in the book Bottom of the 33rd. It’s a good read and the author tracked him down to his then present day location.

Everyone should read Bottom of the 33rd. Great story of love, baseball, baseball history and society. One of my favorite books and well worth the time.
