Games of the Day

Two of the top three AL teams square off in Baltimore as the Guardians send Tanner Bibee against the Orioles and Cade Povich. Bibee sophomore year brought a rise in his ERA despite a slight decline in his WHIP. That may be due to allowing home runs at a higher rate. Povich looks for his first win in the fourth start of his career. He walked nine and struck out nine in 16 innings. He’ll need those numbers to diverge.

The Pirates visit the Reds with Bailey Falter facing Carson Spiers. Falter allowed a .234 opposition BA this season, the lowest of his career. Spiers now has 38 1/3 MLB innings under his belt and allowed just one home run.

The Yankees get Gerrit Cole back as they host the Orioles and Cade Povich. The 24-year-old rookie makes his third MLB start on the big stage against one of the best in the game. He showed good control so far, walking four batter in eleven innings. His strength in the minors came from his high K rate, 12.1 per 9 IP, and walks were his weakness.
