Kissing Cousins

Jake Cousins comes on to try to get the save for the Yankees in the bottom of the tenth against the seven-eight-nine hitters of the Dodgers. With one out, he walks Gavin Lux, increasing the probability that Shohei Ohtani comes to bat.

Update: Tommy Edman grounds a ball to second that looked like a double play, but Oswaldo Cabrera, in after pinch running for Gleyber Torres knocks it down, but can’t make a play. That puts runners on first and second for Ohtani.

Update: Nestor Cortes, back early from an injury, comes on to face Ohtani.

Update: Ohtani pops up the first pitch in foul territory. Alex Verdugo makes the catch, and falls into the first row of seats. Because he went off the field, the runners move up a base. That leads to a walk to Mookie Betts to bring Freddie Freeman to the plate with the bases loaded and the Yankees leading 3-2.

Update: Freeman pulls a Kirk Gibson and hits the first pitch for a grand slam! I can believe what I just saw! The Dodgers win game one 6-3!
